MilitaryWhile serving as a Waist Gunner on B-17F #41-24494 on 9 November 1942, the aircraft was assigned to bomb the U-Boat pens at St. Nazaire, France. On return, the aircraft overshot the runway when it attempted to land at Portreath and crashed into field beyond runway. Sgt Kennedy was not injured. RTD.
