A 487th Bomb Group B-17 Flying Fortress flipped onto its back and sent out of control by the damage caused to the tail section by flak shells. It was part of a formation of 487th Bomb Group aircraft on their way to raid Mersberg oil plant on the 2nd of November 1944.
