B-24D Liberator, 41-23809 - Hellsadroppin II - In the 329th Bomb Squadron, the 93rd Bomb Group, (TDY) temporary deployed to the 9th Air Force, coming in to land. Hellsadroppin II flew on Operation Tidal Wave, the bombing mission to destroy the oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania. 1 August, 1943. Later, it was declared, "war weary", and became a high visibility formation ship with 448th Bomb Group, 8th Air Force in Britain in 1944.
