Dad was born in the tiny rural town of Gilbert Arkansas, located on the banks of the famous Buffalo River, on Christmas Day 1924. As a kid when we visited his Grandparents still living there, there was no running water and a 2 seater out back. There were only 8 in his High School Graduating Class and soon after graduation he enlisted in The Army Air Corp while his Brother Robert joined The Navy. Dad didn’t talk at all about his service but through a lot of research, family photo albums and all the Army Keepsakes he kept in a shoe box, I’ve put together a basic timeline of his service, his Missions and all the time he spent on Base (105) Chelveston, UK. He served in the 8th AAF | 305th BG Heavy | 422nd BSq and went on 22 bombing missions between January 29th and April 19th 1945, all detailed in his Mission Journal which I’m assuming he wrote after they landed because his handwriting is really excellent!! I’m really proud of my Dad’s Service to the United States during WW2!! Truly he was part of “The Greatest Generation”!!!
