Joseph H Godfrey

Military

Shot down on 16-Aug-44 in B-17G 44-6126 while serving as Engineer/Top Turret Gunner. Aircraft was attacked by fighters setting the bomb bay on fire which caused the aircraft to explode and break in two. T/Sgt Godfrey was able to bale out of the stricken aircraft and captured as POW. Aircraft carashed at Teistungen, Germany.
