Shot down 9 November 1942 in B-17 41-24491 near St. Nazaire, France while serving as Bombardier. Plane crashed 5 miles north-west of St. Nazaire, France. Prisoner of War (POW) at Stalag 7A, Moosburg, Bavaria.



After the war he graduated from Virginia Tech. and was then with Appalachian Power Co until 1986 retiring as Marketing and Customer service manager. He was a town councilman for 24 years and Mayor 1994-97.
