Object Number - UPL 64030 - 2nd Lt Adolph H. Huesgen

Evaded (EVD) crashed on 29-Dec-44 in Luxembourg in B-17 42-107188 'Ramp Rooster'.

A co-pilot with the 602nd Sqdn Huesgen bailed out at 25,000 ft when his plane was downed by anti-aircraft fire. He remembers drifting down 'thinking of inconsequential things' and silence all around. As he came down he was shot at and saw people running around and vehicles moving so as soon as he landed he got out of his harness and started running.

With several rifles pointing at him he then realised he was facing Americans but had a tough time convincing them that he was not a German infiltrator, especially with a name like Huesgen. Later, on returning to base, he found his effects already re-distributed. Of his crew that day one man was killed, two wounded and five became prisoners of war.

Huesgen was to fly 10 more missions.

Awards: AM (3OLC), EAME (2BS), WWII Victory.
