The B-24D, 41-24229, was first named, Seeds Of Satan, with it's name and nose art, changed to, Miss Delores, for it's second name. It's last given name, was, Buzzin' Bear. It was originally in the 8th Air Force, the 44th Bomb Group, and the 67th Bomb Squadron, based in Shipdham, Britain. In 1943, the plane was temporarily reassigned (TDY) from Britain, to North Africa, based at Benghazi, Libya, to assist the U.S. Air Force's 9th Bomber Command to bomb and destroy the German held oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania, in 1943 Buzzin' Bear, was flown by Col. William Roderick Cameron on Operation Tidal Wave, to Ploesti and returned safely to Benghazi, Libya. 1 Aug 43. After surviving the Ploesti mission, Buzzin' Bear, while still on temporary assignment (TDY) to the 9th Bomber Command, was shot down over Foggia, Italy, by enemy fighters and failed to return from the mission - FTR. 4 KIA - 6 POW. 16 Aug 1943,
