Bio

I am the daughter of Preston Piper, USAF 3946A, stationed at Great Ashfield, and later at Boxsted. He flew B-17s initially and was forced to ditch in the English channel in the Lulu Belle August of 1943. He later flew fighters from Boxted airfield, and was part of Zemke's Wolfpack;  he was shot down in the Lady Jane in '44. Hub Zemke observed his fighter blow up and concluded there was no way he could have survived. He did survive, his back was broken and he had terrible burns; he spent the remainder of the war in Stalag Luft III, (transferred in the dreadful January 1945 march to Moosburg). I was born in 1947.
