I am retired Navy. My uncle Lee Roy Jones served in the 382nd, 578th RUO. I have also found distant cousins that also served with the 8th. My uncle, Arthur Leo Crow served with the 15th AAF in Italy. He was a staff sergeant, nose gunner on a B-24 named "Towney's Tavern". He was killed in action on 23 April 1944 near Gyor, Hungary. His remains were found and identified, then mislabeled as Unknown X, then combined with the remains of another crew member buried in Loraine American Cemetery in France. I have been fighting with DPAA for years to mark his grave properly.
