Shot down by fighters and crashed W of Eusweiler/Elsdorf after the crew bailed out on mission #76 to the ball bearing works at Erkner-Berlin on 6 Mar 1944 in B-17G #42-31448 'Half Breed'. Prisoner of War (POW).
Retired from the USAF with the rank of Master Sergeant after also serving during the Korean War
