Assigned to the 544th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), per General Orders #176, HQ 2nd Air Force, dated 20 November 1942, effective 28 December 1942.  Ditched in Atlantic on flight From Gander, Newfoundland, to England on 10 June 1943. Rescued by a Canadian minesweeper and returned to Presque Isle, Maine. Completed the deployment to England on an ATC C-54.   Shot down 25 July 1943 in B-17 #42-29670. Killed in Action (KIA) . No MACR
