SSgt. Frank Ferrel was the Top Turret Gunner in the B-24D, in the B-24D, named, Euroclydon The Storm, 42-40612. He was Killed in Action (KIA) while on TDY to the 9th Air Force for Operation Tidal Wave, the bombing mission on the oil refineries at Ploesti, Romania. Only two of the crew, SSgt. Charles Reed and SSgt. James Vest survived bailing out and were taken prisoner. 2 POW. 10 KIA. 1 Aug, 1943.
