Frank Champ was Navigator on B-17 #42-38009, shot down on 15 June 1944. Crashed Coimères, near Bazas, France. Helped by French citizens and members of the Maquis. Crossed the Pyrénées mountains into Spain on 4 August, reached Gibraltar on the 25th and was flown from there on 26 August 1944, landing in England on the following day. Evaded (EVD). Escape & Evasion Report E&E 1192.
