near Saint-Malo, France 29 May 1943 According to MACR 15139, he fell "in the sea", ± 1km north of Saint-Malo, was fished out and captured on 29 May. Webster’s own statement says Bombardier Carroll was next to him in the (Ille et Rance) canal when the Germans caught them.
