Mission #37 to the Focke-Wulf plant at Anklam, Germany. MACR 887. The aircraft left formation with #1 engine smoking and was attacked by fighters, knocking out #2 and #3 engines. The aircraft exploded as it crashed into North Sea. Killed in Action (KIA). Name on the Tablets of the Missing at Cambridge AMC.
