William T Boren
MilitaryOn 21-Sep-43 while seving as Pilot of B-16B 41-31721, 387BG/559BS he was despatched from Chipping Ongar, UK along with 36 other B-26s to bomb the German airfield of Beauvais/Tille, France. During the attack the aircraft sustained extensive damage from AA fire and he and the rest of the crew were forced to bale out of the stricken aircraft before is crashed two iles northwest of the target. MAJ Boren was able to evade capture (E&E Report 194) and returned to England on 6-Nov-43. One other airman also evaded capture and 5 were captured as Prisoners of War (POW) 2EVD 5POW MACR 614.
