Wendell Theron Helwig

He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant on November 24th, 1944 and was soon awarded the Air Medal and the Oak Leaf Cluster. One month after his promotion he was Killed in Action (KIA) near Daun in P-51 'Big Beautiful Doll' 44-13923. The Purple Heart was awarded posthumously.
