Shot down in 42-97163 on 13 September 1944 Merseburg synthetic oil mission when the plane received permission to and in France after 2 engines were out and a third was erratic. He was in Hospital in France after the crash.



Ted lost a leg as a result of the crash. Repatriated to US - married his beloved physical therapist.
