Stephen Kurnafil
Military ROLL OF HONOURRWG, Schrader Crew. 381st BG, 533rd BS, 8th AF. Shot down 25 June 1943 in B-17 #42-30027. Mission #3 to Hamburg, Germany. MACR 162. Killed in Action (KIA). Sgt Kurnafil bailed out and was captured. He was placed in the Marine Hospital at Sanderbusch with fragment wounds to his skull and wounds to his knee and leg. He died of his wounds at 1445 hrs in the hospital. He was interred 29 June 1943 in the Marine Garrison Post cemetery at Wilhelmshaven. The Army was unable to locate his body after the war. Recorded on the Tablets of the Missing in Netherlands AMC.
