Killed in Action (KIA) when B-17 42-32009 collided with another B-17. The fuselage snapped in half and the aircraft crashed in North Sea off Lowestoft, Suffolk. Diamond's name is commemorated on the Tablets of the missing at Cambridge American Cemetery, Cambridge England.
