Sidney Hantman
MilitaryReceived pilot's wings on 9 October 1942. Wounded on 15th mission over Anklam, Germany, 9 October 1943 while serving in the tail gunner position as an observer. Hantman was struck by a 20mm cannon shell which penetrated his thigh, and cut his right arm off at the shoulder. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross in 1944 for remaining at his post and continuing his duties despite his wounds. Upon return to base Hantman was admitted to the 49th Station Hospital
