Robert Scott was born in 1920, and grew up in Laramie, Wyoming. He was orphaned following the death of his father in 1928, and resided at the Cathedral Home for children until he enlisted in the US Army, aged 18 in February 1940. Scott joined the 82nd Airborne Division and with them took part in operations in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and Normandy. Assigned to HQ battery of the 376th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion, Scott was killed in action by artillery fire on 20 September 1944, before the Waal Crossing. He received a temporary burial in Molenhoek, before being permanently interred in Netherlands American Cemetery on 17 February 1949.
