Robert J Chrisjohn
Military"Iowans of the Mighty Eighth", Chapter 22 "Biographies", by Charles D Taylor.
He joined the Army Air Corps in January 1941, becoming an aerial gunnery instructor before transferring to flying training. He reported to the Group at Old Buckenham on 17 Jul 1944 and returned to the USA that December having completed 35 missions. He stayed on in the service until 1950 completing a tour in Germany. He then worked as a banker at Alden Iowa and joined the Iowa National Guard where after 20 years he retired with the rank of Brigadier General.
Awards: DFC, Air Medal (5OLC), ADSM, ACM, EAME (2 campaign stars), WW II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Medal for Humane Action (Berlin Airlift), NDSM
He was born Feb 14, 1921 and died 25 Feb 2007
