Wounded on 4 February 1944, but came back to earn the Distinguished Flying Cross prior to leaving the 4th Fighter Group on 30 October 1944.
Forced to crash near Bexhill, East Sussex after the engine failed on the return from an operational mission due to engine problems on 5 Mar 1944 in P-51B #43-7005. RTD.
