Staff Sergeant Robert B. Miller was born December 23, 1917, the son of Clarence Miller, and the brother of Hugh Miller. He was from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

While serving with the 388th Bomb Group, his B-17, 42-30229, disappeared over the Atlantic, between Gander Bay, Newfoundland, and Prestwick, Scotland. No sign of the crew of aircraft was ever found.
