Paul Dale Robinson
Military"Iowans of the Mighty Eighth", Chapter 22 "Biographies", by Charles D Taylor.
He enlisted in February 1943, training as a radio operator and gunner. With his crew they flew to England to join the 100th Bomb Group but were transferred to the 401st. That group was to lose 23 aircraft- of 36 - on a raid on a ball-bearing plant. He returned to the USA in January 1945 aboard a Liberty ship which also carried 500 German POWs. Afterwards he originally worked for the John Deere Co. then served as a despatcher for Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years, farming at the same time.
