Morris was working on the family farm when drafted in September 1942. After training he joined the 385thBG at Great Ashfield where he was responsible for the storage and issue of ammunition, bombs and bomb fuses and loading the guns aboard the aircraft. After VE Day he went on aerial sightseeing trips over Germany. Discharged in October 1945 he returned to the farm.
