78th FG, 84th FS: On 3rd February 1945 1st Lt Leon Grisham, aged 23 and from Fort Worth, Texas, was shot down in his P-51 near Luneburg Airfield after making four passes and destroying three Nazi aircraft. His last radio transmission was a request that fellow pilots see that he received credit for the German aircraft he destroyed. A claim report was later turned in for him with supporting statements by other fliers.
