Shot down 10 July 1943 in B-17 42-29475 'Stric Nine. ' Prisoner of War (POW).
Forsblad joined the 91st BG in April 1943 and was shot down on his 16th mission. While at Stalag Luft 111 he was camp music officer, running the band. After the war he studied music at the University of Southern California and wrote many works for orchestra and chorus. He considered his major work to be a tone poem entitled 'The Eighth Air Force Memorial' a work which incorporated the sounds of war.
