Military ROLL OF HONOUROn 8 Nov 1942 B-17F #41-24570 "Panhandle Doggie" suffered severe damage on mission to bomb the German airfield Drucat at Abbeville, France. Aircraft returned to base with all crew and was salvaged. SSgt Odegard was serving as Right Waist Gunner on this aircraft. The Navigator and Bombardier were wounded. 10 RTD.
Killed in action 3-Jan-43 aboard B-17F #42-5084 "Panhandle Doggie II" while serving as Right Waist Gunner. Aircraft took a firect hit by flak over the target of St. Nazaire, France and crashed into the sea near Ile de Noirmoutier, France.
