Herbert Reis
Military"Iowans of the Mighty Eighth", Chapter 22 "Biographies", by Charles D Taylor.
He enlisted in October 1942 trained as a navigator, was commissioned in May 1944 and the following month was en route to the ETO. He flew on 30 combat missions with the Group at Old Buckenham. He later remained in the AF Reserve, attaining the rank of Major. In civilian life he owned and operated a service station and towing service for over 30 years before handing the business over to his sons.
