RTD. Shot down by flak and crashed near Falaise on 8/8/44 in B-17 42-97394
8 Aug 1944Tail shot off plane by flak. Landed within friendly lines and entire crew, with the exception of Sergeant Charles Simons, Tail Gunner who was blown out of the tail and was reported Missing in Action (MIA), landed safely and returned to base.
