Shot down 29 April 1944 in B-17 #42-31521 'Badland Bat', Prisoner of War (POW).

Was awarded the Soldier's Medal for heroism displayed when a plane crashed and burst into flames with 9 men aboard. Capt Gould assisted by two other men managed to drag 7 of the occupants to safety.
