Flight Officer Fred B. Herman was born January 6, 1923. His next of kin were his parents, Fred and Edith Herman. He was from Long Beach, California.

On July 11, 1944, while aboard “Lorelie,” B-24 tail 41-29300 of the 458th Bomb Group, 755th Bomb Squadron, his aircraft disappeared on a mission to Munich, Germany. No sign of the plane was ever found after takeoff, and the presumption was made that it went down over the English Channel.

His remains were never recovered.
