François G Delfosse
CivilianAged 11 he witnessed the crash of B-17 (3O-P, serial number 44-6843) in Soumagne, Belgium.
He watched the damaged aircraft fly low before crashing in a field. Delfosse helped a patrol of GIs in a Jeep to localize the landing site before the aircraft crashed and saw the crew rushing out after the incident. This event stayed with Delfosse who became a civilian pilot in adulthood.
