Shot down by fighters and crashed SSW of Erkner on a mission to the ball bearing plant at Erkner-Berlin on 6 Mar 1944 in B-17G #42-31553. He jumped out with the parachute of the B-17G and landed on the farm before crashed. Prisoner of War (POW) at Stalag Luft 4, in Grosstychow and Stalgal Luft 6 in Heydekrug, East Prussia, for 14 months.
