MilitaryUpload of photos associated with Aircraft 42-95185 and crew
Edward Danecki served as a tail gunner with the 448th Bomb Group, out of Seething, as part of crew 7178.
On March 25, 1945, he was shot-down aboard B-24 Liberator "Do Bunny", serial number 42-95185. The entire crew survived. After interrogation and solitary confinement for four days at Penneberg, Germany, he became POW 7929 at Stalag Luft I near Barth, Germany, for the war's duration.
The aircraft itself came to rest in a plowed-up farm field near Soltau, Germany. Several photos of the emergency-landing site from March 1945 were printed 51 years after the event from archive photos of the local Soltau newspaper on October 10, 1996.
