Edward Joseph Carey
MilitaryShot down by flak and crashed near Pont-Audemer, France in B-17G #42-31380 on 8 February 1944. The crew baled out prior to the crash. Evaded (EVD). Sheltered, clothed, fed and transported by French citizens and members of the Résistance. Led to the Spanish border, crossed into Spain through the Pyrénées mountains, reaching Gibraltar. Flown from there back to England on 8 June 1944. Escape & Evasion Report E&E 718.
