Eadmer W Pease
MilitaryEvaded. Escape & Evasion Report E&E#2031 - Lt. Pease, O-702123, landed near Ruiselede, Belgium. Together with crew members Charles W. Mullins (E&E 2032), Joseph W. Davis (E&E 2034) and Harry C. Terrell (E&E 2070) he was first helped by two members of the Armee Blanche ("Michel" from Assebroek and "Emile"). Lt. Pease stayed with Mlle. Elodie Vanderschaege, Waardamme in Ruddervoorde, near Oostkamp. He also got help there from M. Van Herseele-Denys, Statiestraat 91 and from Edouard Verleye-Dewulf, 120 Kortrijksestraat, also in Ruddervoorde/Oostkamp. He mentions that Sgt William F. Baumback (E&E 2033) was helped by Odile Spiessens (219 Zandvleuge in Ruiselede, Ruddervoorde) as well as by Gaston Verleye, Brugsestraat 54, Zwevezele and Andre De Voogt, from 135 Lichterveldestraat in Koolskamp. The Chief of the underground group who took care of Lt Pease, Mullins, Davis and Terrell was Guy DE SCHIETERE-DE LOPHEM, from Ruddervoorde, head of the Sint-Andries groep. Pease mentions in his E&E that Guy's aide was Boris Van Poucke, from 2 Bloemstraat in Assebroek (the Belgian Helpers list has Michel and Guy Van Poucke at that address) . Like Mullins, Davis and Gray, Lt Pease was hidden until the liberation of the region by British troops on 11 September 1944 and all four flew back to England on September 12/13.
