Assigned to the 547th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), per AAF Station 106 Special Orders #72 dated 16 April 1944.  Shot down 8 May 1944 in B-17 #42-97081. Ditched, Killed in Action (KIA)/Missing in Action (MIA). His sister Mary was with the 181st Medical Division in England and was killed in a plane crash on 14 June 1944.
