Darrell flew on 12 combat missions from Molesworth - his first that of 6 March 1945. Between missions he was a member of the base Skeet Shooting team which won the ETO championship.
He later worked for a furniture distributors for 35 years and was inducted into the North High School of Fame as an outstanding baseball player.
