Mr. Vinton was born Feb. 18, 1924, in Grundy Center, son of Glenn and Florence Vinton. He received his education the Whitten Consolidated and was married on Oct.24, 1944, to Betty Bailey at Marysville, Kan.

He entered the United States Army Air Forces in January, 1944, and served four years with duty in England and Germany. He was discharged with the rank of Sergeant. A long time truck operator, he was active in community affairs, serving as a volunteer fireman for may years. He served as Whitten Town marshal from 1958 until the time of his death and was a member of the Grundy County Sheriff's Reserves.
