On 7-Sep-43 1LT Aubrey C. Stanhope was flying P-47C 41-6207 escorting B-17s attacking the German airfield at Brussels, Belgium. His aircraft was attacked by German fighters and he managed to bale out and was captured. The aircraft crashed near Hulst, Belgium. No MACR was issued documenting this loss. Held at Stalag Luft III, Zagan-Silesia (now Poland, moved to Nuremberg-Langwasser. Officially Returned to Military Control (RMC) 12-Jul-45.
