Allan P Carwile

Military

During WW2, Allan flew on Wheeler's crew as the ball turret gunner

and was awarded an air medal (July 1944).

After the war, he served as a fireman at Ellsworth Air Base in Rapid City, South Dakota, then went home to Kentucky and started Carwile Industrial Painting And Coating, traveling around the United States with his family. Allan P. dabbled in many hobbies including owning (and occasionally racing) in NASCAR in the 1950's, owning a stable of Thoroughbred Race Horses from 1957 until 1980, and Deep Sea Fishing off his boat in both the Gulf of Mexico and the waters around Catalina Island in Southern California. Allan also loved gambling and took his wife to Vegas often for a week of gambling, shows, and fine dining. He lived large, was bigger than life, and enjoyed everything to it's fullest. He felt that in surviving the war, he'd been given a second chance and he planned to make it count...and he did.
