Riley, and all but two other crewmen were killed in action KIA when the airplane crashed and burned on takeoff. Aircraft lost. Crashed on takeoff for the Ploesti mission. Number 4 engine failure. - 8 KIA / 2 WIA. 1 Aug 43.
