This was the only olive drab P-51D Mustang in the 4th Fighter Group.
Originally assigned to Maj. Howard 'Deacon' Hively, it was passed on to Lt Col. Louis 'Red Dog' Norley when he became CO of the 334th Fighter Squadron on 25 January 1945.
Lured over aerodrome defenses by Me262 which he was attacking, sustained damage to cooling system, glycol streamed from A/C for 10 minutes before piloy Lt William B Hoelscher baled out. Evaded capture EVD. 25-Apr-45. MACR 14047.
