B-24J-60-CF, "The Bad Penny". Assigned to the 445th Bomb Group at Tibenham (USAAF Station 124), England. Initially assigned to the 701st Bomb Squadron as MK-H+, later transferred to the 700th Bomb Squadron as IS-A+. On 22 May 1944, while returning to the U.S., the aircraft made a forced landing 4 miles southeast of Port-au-Choix, Newfoundland when the pilot believed that the fuel was almost exhausted. All of the crew survived but the aircraft was damaged beyond repair.
