Flew 27 missions with the 703rd Bomb Squadron, 445th Bomb Group. On 25 July 1944, on a mission to St. Lo, France (445th BG Mission # 133), the aircraft was hit by flak & crashed near Marigny, France. 6 members of the crew were killed, 2 became POWs. The pilot, Lt. Long, was capured & escaped 3 times, eventually reaching Allied lines. MACR 7841. E&E 1442.
