Object Number - FRE 8108 - B-24 Liberators of the 389th Bomb Group and (serial number 42-7571) of the 392nd Bomb Group flyn in formation during a mission.

On 11 Jul 1944 the aircraft was on a mission from Tibenham, England to Munich, Germany (445th Bomb Group Mission # 122). Enroute to the target the aircraft had engine problems, & over the target area the plane was hit by flak requiring 1 engine to be shut down while another had an inoperable supercharger. Unable to keep up with the formation & maintain altitude the pilot decided to divert to Switzerland. While attempting to land at Dubendorf the aircraft crashed in a cornfield near the airfield. The crew escaped without serious injury & were interned in Switzerland. The aircraft was damaged beyond repair. MACR 6943.
